The history of Tannu Tuva is interesting. In the early 1900s, Tannu Tuva was a part of China until the fall of the Qing Dynasty. It was a part of Mongolia before becoming a part of the Soviet Union.
All Tannu Tuva coins were struck in Leningrad in 1933 and 1934. Only 2 and 3 kopeks were struck in both years. 1933 coins are very rare. These were struck with the same planchets used for Soviet coins.
Many of these coins especially the 1 - 5 kopeks are often found in corroded, poor condition. This is likely due to the alloy used in the coins. While there are only 7 different denominations, a single coin often goes for over 100 US in a reasonable condition - making this a somewhat difficult set to assemble. This took me almost ten years to complete.
